SUMMARY:Hudson Valley District | December CE Event
DESCRIPTION:Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome: A Primer for PhysiotherapistsPostural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is increasingly recognized. This is a disorder that largely affects women of childbearing age and is associated with significant functional disability. This talk will review the clinical diagnostic criteria for POTS and then review its clinical presentation. There are critical non-pharmacological foundations of care that can be implemented by physiotherapists\, physicians\, and other clinicians. We will then touch on some commonly used medications to treat POTS to provide a broader perspective on how these patients may present to a physiotherapist. This will be a lecture with information and some general Q & A at the end of the session.\nContinuing Education CreditPT/PTA CEH's: 2.4CEH's will be earned following the viewing of the presentation and subsequent submission of an evaluation form.\n\nSpeaker DetailsSatish R. Raj\, MD\nSatish Raj | UCalgary Profiles | University of CalgarySatish R. Raj\, MD\, MSCI is a heart rhythm cardiologist. He spent 12 years at the Vanderbilt Autonomic Dysfunction Center in Nashville\, TN. After moving back to Canada in 2014\, he founded the Calgary Autonomic Investigation & Management Clinic.
