DESCRIPTION:A.I In the Physical Therapy Landscape: Applications and ApprehensionsArtificial intelligence is reshaping how clinicians access information\, communicate with patients\, and approach documentation\, education\, and research. It has been recorded that AI chatbots alone receive over 1 billion visits Large language models and other AI tools are being integrated into clinical workflows\, yet many physical therapists lack a working understanding of how these tools function\, where they add value\, and where their use raises ethical or professional concerns. This course is designed for Physical Therapists of all experience levels. The goal of this course is to build a working understanding of current AI tools and broad review of applications within various aspects of physical therapy. Emphasis on prompt engineering will be placed. Participants will explore real-world use cases and develop practical skills in prompt engineering through a guided breakout exercise. The course also addresses the personal and societal implications of AI adoption\, encouraging participants to critically evaluate both the opportunities and the risks associated with integrating these technologies. Delivered as a 100-minute presentation\, the course combines instructor-led presentation with interactive discussion\, hands-on prompt engineering practice\, and dedicated time for questions and answers\, allowing participants to leave with tools and strategies they can apply immediately. Greater NY District will host a brief business meeting at the beginning before proceeding with the course.\nThis is a live Hybrid event. At the NYU Langone Orthopedic Center in Manhattan\, he serves as one of the supervisors for a team of physical therapists\, contributing to initiatives that elevate patient care and improve clinical efficiency. He is engaged in leveraging electronic health record (EHR) system capabilities and emerging healthcare technologies to enhance decision-making\, streamline workflows\, and support optimal patient outcomes. In addition to his supervisory role\, Dr. Peredo has also conducted research exploring the accuracy of artificial intelligence in comparison to established clinical practice guidelines which was recently published in the JOSPT Methods May Issue.\nMark Vorensky\, PT\, PhD\, DPTMark Vorensky is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences at Rutgers University School of Health Professions. He is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic and sports physical therapy\, treating patients at NYU Langone Health. His research examines how social\, contextual\, and health system factors influence patient-clinician interactions\, clinical decision-making\, and outcomes in chronic pain. His work on physical therapist decision-making for patients with chronic pain is currently funded by the NIH HEAL National K12 Clinical Pain Career Development Award.
