Description

Managing the Neurological Patient Throughout the Lifespan

Managing patients with neurological conditions requires a comprehensive, team-based approach across the lifespan. Individuals with neurological diagnoses present with a wide range of impairments and functional limitations, from early developmental delays in childhood to complex medical and functional challenges in adulthood. The course of care may span acute, subacute, outpatient, and community settings, often requiring coordinated rehabilitation services to optimize outcomes and quality of life.

In this course, participants will understand the collaborative roles of the interdisciplinary team in managing neurological patients from pediatrics through adulthood. The course describes pediatric neurodevelopment, evaluation, and intervention strategies, as well as the management of post–traumatic brain injury symptoms across the continuum of care. It also highlights the importance of community reintegration and resources to support long-term recovery.

Additionally, the course explores strategies to improve patient motivation and engagement in rehabilitation, emphasizing the translation of theory into clinical practice. The course further examines the relationship between neurological and orthopedic health, underscoring its impact on functional progress. Lastly, participants will engage in interdisciplinary discussion to enhance clinical reasoning and collaborative decision-making in the care of neurological patients.

Coffee, Breakfast & Lunch will be provided onsite and served in the auditorium.

This is a live Hybrid event. The virtual option is held on Zoom, and the in-person option is held at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

If you initially register to attend virtually but later decide to attend in person, please email Amanda Rotondo to update your registration.
