Description

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome: A Primer for Physiotherapists

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is increasingly recognized. This is a disorder that largely affects women of childbearing age and is associated with significant functional disability. This talk will review the clinical diagnostic criteria for POTS and then review its clinical presentation. There are critical non-pharmacological foundations of care that can be implemented by physiotherapists, physicians, and other clinicians. We will then touch on some commonly used medications to treat POTS to provide a broader perspective on how these patients may present to a physiotherapist. This will be a lecture with information and some general Q & A at the end of the session.

Continuing Education Credit

PT/PTA CEH's: 2.4

CEH's will be earned following the viewing of the presentation and subsequent submission of an evaluation form.
