Description

Part 1: Fitness-Forward Exercise Considerations and Current Guidelines during Pregnancy

Learn how to confidently treat and empower pregnant and postpartum individuals throughout their journey with current evidence-based guidelines through a fitness-forward approach. This course is intended both for pelvic PTs and orthopedic PTs who will be seeing pregnancy and postpartum individuals. It will be taught in 2 parts: Part 1 focusing on pregnant individuals and Part 2 focusing on postpartum individuals. These courses are related but separate and participants are welcome to attend one or both of the courses. We will discuss how to modify and progress exercise based on conditions/complications the individual may have, including pain, diastasis recti, and incontinence, while referencing the most current research supporting a fitness forward approach. We will bust common myths and misinformation to instead empower these individuals to thrive in their journey without symptoms. We will also cover labor and delivery prep. You will come away with knowledge of the most current research and application of how to implement what you’ve learned in the clinic after this course.

This is a live Hybrid event. The virtual option is held on Zoom, and the in-person option is held at Limitless Physical Therapy Specialists (Penfield location).

If you initially register to attend virtually but later decide to attend in person, please email APTA New York's Event Manager Erin Stack at estack@aptany.org to update your registration.
